Week 60 Letter from Sorella Hills

Hello famiglia!

It's so crazy you are getting all that snow! I've been looking at my weather app, and it's been crazy! You are so lucky! I miss the snow! That sucks about the snow blower though.  Why don't you use the tractor? 😜 What's it good for anyways?

I'm sad I missed another one of Isabel's plays.  It's weird being away from home, because life sort of goes on with or without you.  I feel like I'm in a bit of a bubble and I'm missing the outside world a bit.  It's probably because we have been inside for 2 weeks straight.

My poor companion has some serious bowel problems, like IBS or colitis or something...  We are going to do some testing at the hospital today, but if you could pray for her, that would be nice.  I'm going crazy inside.  And she is in a lot of pain.

But we had a cool week nonetheless! We got 2 referrals, which is like unheard of here! Both are really promising, so we are really excited.  Also, one of our investigators wants to be baptized, she just needs help to quite smoking.  Things are looking up here! Every time we were able to go out, we saw miracles.  It shows when we do the most we can, the Lord fills in the rest and blesses us for our efforts. I love Ostia, I love the Italians, and I love my mission!

Love you all, hope you have a great week!

Week 59 Letter From Sorella Hills

Ciao famiglia mia! Come state?! State morendo di neve?

Man, I miss the snow, sort of.  Probably because I like never shoveled... but I totally miss the snow days! There is something special about waking up to that phone call 😄

Rachel got married?! Do you have pictures?!

Today, I realized that I have exactly 4 months left.  Only 4.  Wow.  I'm almost done! I must say, I am thrilled.  I love my mission, and I am so excited for it to be over...

Yeah, I'm still in Ostia! My companion is really fun.  No pictures really this week, it was a bit hectic.  My last companion was transferred to Pascara, so we had to sort of pack up her whole life, then meet our new companions in termini.  Then, my new companion got sick. Poor thing.  So, we've been in the house all week! Ahhh! But, we are out and  about today, so I'll try and get some cute ones 😁

As for the package, not yet. I'll check at some point...

Ummm. Well, my comp was too sick to go to church, an funny enough, so were the Anziani.  So, the members all teamed up, and called and set up doctor's appointments and such.  They were so nice, and caring, even for a Sorella they have never met.  The church is true because it teaches us to look out, and to serve.  To do what Christ would have done.  I love you all, stay golden!

Week 58 Letter from Sorella Hills

Ciao famiglia!

It sounds like such a blast! I've wanted to see all of those movies 😁 I miss those Klondike girls' nights! Haha, so fun 😄.

We are teaching some really cool people. One is the friend of a member.  She was not progressing, so we put her on pause for a bit, and then all of a sudden, she came to church! She has been coming almost every week, and wants to be baptized, just has a problem with the word of wisdom.  She is amazing, and the ward loves and supports her so well!

My rose of the week is that an investigator I taught last time I was in Ostia has come back! Not sure of you remember her.  BTW, I have returned to the same city that I was in during my 4th transfer, that never happens here! But, yeah.  She also sort of disappeared for a while, and didn't want anything to do with the church.  But, her life has gotten really difficult, and she has seen the difference the gospel made in her life, and wants to work towards baptism again! I'm really excited for her 😄.

Then, there is a part member family.  We are teaching the 2 nonmember sons aged 12 and 13.  The father is really Catholic, so it is hard, and the member mom works on Sundays.  So.  We are working on getting them rides to church, because that's the only thing holding them back.  They would be baptized to day if they just came to church enough times!

But yeah, it has been amazing here, I love Ostia! I love my mission more than ever.  Tonight, I get my transfer call, and I believe I'll be staying, but stay tuned for my new companion!

Not sure about a thorn... well, actually there has been some district drama which has been less then ideal, but, yeah. I have NOT bitten my nails since the beginning of the year! I've cut them shortish, but they have not been bitten, nor the skin thanks to Burts Bees :)

A testimony building moment would be our investigator that returned. She saw the difference in her life without the gospel, and missed it.  She wants to change her life completely, and that is a testimony to me that this gospel can change lives! It's so true people, so true😄

I love you all!

Week 57 Letter from Sorella Hills

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to Ellie.... happy birthday to you!!!!!! And many mooooooorrrrrrreeee 😙😙😙😙😙😙😙😙😙😙😙😙😙😙😙,Sending ya 15 kisses for your birthday...that's all I've got money for!

This week was so cool! We had a lesson with this cool part member family, called the Blaz family.  They are so cool! The investigators are the 2 sons aged 12 and 11.  They are incredible, and ask so many good questions.  It was a really cool lesson. Did I mention it was cool?

Also this week, the Anziani had a baptism! His name is Gary, and he is the husband of a member.  Ok, I love the story, so I'll tell it! He is from Portorico, were he was baptized at age 11. He was a strong member, but started to fall a way when he moved to Rome.  During the move, the records were lost, and he became offended, because the true church wouldn't forget about people.  So, he stopped going.  He then met his wife, who became an investigator of the Anziani about 5 years ago.  She was baptized and found out about her husband.  She began trying to bring him to church, but he said he will come when he is ready.  Well, he came for the primary program to surprise his son, and has come ever since. The Anziani started teaching him, and he was re-baptized on Friday! It was so amazing! He was so happy and so was his family.  I love seeing baptisms that unite the family.  It's amazing when anyone gets baptized, but when a family come together instead of just one, it's really special. I saw what a difference it made for the wife to have her husband united with her. Families are so important! My testimony of that was strengthened this week, for sure!

I've stopped biting my nails, and my companion bought this nail strengthening sort of nail polish treatment... we are trying hat out, we'll let you know how that goes! Haha.

Transfers are next week, so I will probably get a new companion... who will it be?!? Stay tuned 😝

Week 55 Letter from Sorella Hills

Hello family,

Wait, so are the elders or the sisters teaching Allannah? Because that's a lot of missionaries!! Cool you all went to the Joseph Smith Memorial!

What's with this tractor? Like... Tractor. Car. I'd choose the car!

ISABEL!!!! NON DIRE SPOILERS!!!!!! QUANTO SEI SCEMA!!!!

Ok. The week was. The same as last week, unfortunately :/ Yeah, if your companion is sick, you don't have much to do but clean, read the ensign, and cook food that's not good for you! But, I've found that the new eras from the 70 and 80's had fiction articles :) So, that's been fun! But yeah. So.

We did get out of the house a bit though.  We tried to go to a city called Aprilia. It was really far away, and by the time we got there, it was dark. And it was really cold...and the people that we wanted to see were about 2 miles away walking...along a highway.  So.  We had to turn around... it was a bit of a waste, but at least we got out, and we now know what it looks like! We are going to ask a member next time for a ride!

We did have a cool lesson this week. The Sorella from Roma 2 passed us a girl who just moved to our area.  She's from England, and is an actress.  It was a lot of drama.  But, she has read the BOM, and knows it's true.  So, we'll see...

That's about the story! I'm doing good. That's the story of the week! Vi amo!
