Week 2 Letter from Sorella Hills

Hey all!

I am so glad to hear that things are going well at home!  I love hearing all the funny stories, so keep sending them!

I have not received my visa yet, but the other people going to Italy only just went to the consulate last Monday to sign the application that needed to be signed at the consulate, so I think we are ok.

Ok, so about my week.  First off, let's talk about last Wednesday!  As you know, I think, my original companion went home on then, and it was a heck of a time trying to get everything done.  She expressed the wish to go home that Tuesday night, and was gone Wednesday afternoon.   Add on top of that laundry, writing emails, meals, and preparation for the rest of the week, it was a lot.

So walking back from doing laundry, which by the way, can I need you to send me my laundry bag... So I was using my carry on and my towel to try and keep it all together.   We passed so elders, and on of then said, "um... I think one of you dropped something".  I turn around, and sitting in the middle of the snowy sidewalk is my nude colored bra!!!! Oh my gosh, I was so embarrassed, and we could NOT stop laughing!!!  Needless to say, a trash bag was used this week instead!

Because my companion left, there has been some changes.  THe first change was becoming a trio with another companionship in my room.  They are amazing, my room is just a funny room!  But, on Monday, a Romanian sister left for the field, leaving her companion solo.  We are in the same branch, but not the same room.  So, we have become companions.  This sounds like a good fix until you know about the New Years.  After New Years, they may be switching up the branches, so that Romania becomes part of the Portuguese branch/zone.  If that happens, she will have to move her self to the Portuguese room to be with a new companion.  Instead of staying in her room, with the people that she is friends with, becoming a trio for a week and not having to move her stuff until they are sure of the change, our President has decised that she should be my companion.  It doesn't even matter really, she is always with the other room anyway, on splits I guess. Ah well, c'est la vie.

We have had some amazing devotionals!  Oh, and btw, David Archuleta came and sung on Christmas after I talked to you guys.  It was great! But yeah, some great people have come and shared stories and testimonies that have strengthened mine.  But what has stuck out to me this week was obedience and humility.  The Lord want us to be humble and teachable.  So even if we do not agree with the decisions that are being made by the higher ups in our lives, that does not mean that we should ignore them, or get mad about them. What we must do is have faith that we will learn something from it, whether it be patience, humility, loving thy neighbor, it could be any number of things. Trust in the Lord, and he will direct thy path, and use all things for thy good.  So, I am working of obedience with the eye towards learning the lesson God wants me to find.

Io so che Dio e un padre come amore per Suoi figli.  Il sa nostro nomi, e nostro vie.  Il ha un piano per noi. Siamo fede. Nel nome di Gesu Christo, amen

Lots of love,
Sorella Hills
